Selecting the right date is about more than just the calendar — it's about you. Your BaZi Five-Element profile determines which days amplify your energy and which days work against it.

An almanac prints a verdict for every day of the year. Practitioners do not stop at that verdict, because it is general. A date that suits the public is not automatically your date, and a date the almanac marks as inauspicious is not automatically wrong for every purpose. The reading is built in four layers.
Every day carries one of twelve officers: 建 除 滿 平 定 執 破 危 成 收 開 閉. The officer sets the day's temperament. 成 and 開 suit launching and finishing. 定 suits agreements and steady work. 破 and 閉 are days for clearing, closing and not beginning. Every almanac tradition warns against weddings and openings on a 破 day.
Days also carry a 黃道 or 黑道 marker. 青龍, 明堂, 金匱, 天德, 玉堂 and 司命 form the favourable six. 天刑, 白虎, 天牢, 玄武 and 勾陳 are the unfavourable ones. When the officer and the path disagree, the day is read as mixed rather than settled, and that is where a general almanac gives up.
This is the layer a printed almanac cannot do for you. Each day's branch clashes with the branch opposite it on the zodiac wheel, and each stem carries the 彭祖百忌 restrictions. If a day clashes your birth day branch, it works against you personally no matter how good it looks on paper. The engine removes those days before it ranks anything.
A date is only auspicious for something. A wedding, a move, a business opening, a long journey and a medical appointment are judged by separate rule sets, each combining the officer, the path, the day stem and the day branch. The engine holds those rule sets apart rather than reusing one score for every purpose.
